death is a verb · donate
Every gift keeps the living world composting — and helps return more bodies to the soil that has always fed us.
Help sustain public gatherings of shared attention, ecological death literacy, and access to more equitable end-of-life possibilities.
Two ways to give. Pick one — or give to both. If you'd rather we decide, gifts default to keeping the whole project alive.
Ecological death care should not be reserved for those whom history already resourced. This fund offers need-based support so that anyone can return their body to the earth — regardless of wealth. Every contribution helps make one more person's composting possible, and restores one more patch of living soil.
Give to the Accessibility Funda restricted fund — tracked and used only for access support
The Compost Heap, the Field Guides, the gatherings, the tending of the living anarchive — all of it takes hosting, care, and hands. Unrestricted gifts are the most useful kind: they let us put resources wherever the work most needs them, season to season.

This is where we will one day share the story of someone the fund has helped return to the earth — in their family's own words, with their full and freely given consent. We are not publishing an invented story in the meantime. A real one will take root here when a family is ready to offer it.
Every returning begins with a wish: to become soil, and to feed the ground we have loved.
A note for our web team: this is an intentional placeholder. Please do not publish a story — composite or real — until the foundation provides one with documented, freely given consent from the family. No invented names or details should appear here.
Steady, monthly giving is what lets a young project plan and grow. The Compost Circle is a community of people who keep the anarchive alive month to month. It is not a paywall — everything on this site stays open to everyone. It is simply a way to belong to the mycelial network that sustains the work.
An accessible entry into the Circle. Small, steady, and exactly enough — the way soil is built, a little at a time.
Give $5/monthSustains the hosting and tending of the living archive across a season of the year. Our most common gift.
Give $15/monthHelps hold the whole work — the Heap, the guides, the gatherings — and seeds the Accessibility Fund as it grows.
Give $30/monthMembership gifts support general operations, so the project stays flexible and alive. The reward is belonging, never gated content — that would cut against everything this site is for.
A single gift, any amount. Choose where it goes at checkout.
Direct, need-based support toward the cost of human composting for those who could not otherwise afford to return to the soil.
Hosting, moderation, and the keeper's tending that keep the Compost Heap open, accessible, and growing.
Earth, Death & Grief literacies, and the in-person and online gatherings that carry the work into community.
A small, careful operation. We report on the Accessibility Fund's use, and steward unrestricted gifts where the season most needs them.
Death Is a Verb Foundation, Inc. Your gift may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; an acknowledgment is sent for every contribution. Designated gifts to the Accessibility Fund are tracked as restricted funds and used for that purpose.
Each .give-btn carries a data-give value naming its destination — wire each to the matching Givebutter campaign or to one form with a pre-selected Fund/designation:
accessibility · upkeep · accessibility-story · circle-5 / 15 / 30 (recurring) · onetime
Recommended: Givebutter "Funds" feature for restricted vs. unrestricted tracking; recurring enabled on the Circle tiers; the story's progress bar reads from the Accessibility campaign's live total. Default any undesignated gift to unrestricted upkeep. The story is a composite placeholder — swap in a real, consented story before launch.
